You can connect Polya to Claude as a connector. Claude can then see the courses you added to Polya, check the study mode you chose for each one, and search your course materials so its explanations cite what your class covers. Once connected, Polya works in Claude on the web, in the desktop app, and on your phone.

Before you begin

Polya isn’t in Claude’s connector directory yet, so you add it as a custom connector with its address, https://askpolya.com/mcp. On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, an owner of your organization adds custom connectors, and you then connect to them.

Then select Add.

4

Allow access

Select Allow. Polya sends you back to Claude, and the connector is ready. To cancel instead, select Don’t allow.
If Polya shows This link has expired, go back to Claude and connect Polya again.

Turn Polya on in a chat

You can choose which connectors a chat uses. In a chat, select + at the lower left, then Connectors, and make sure Polya is turned on.

Things to ask

Mention the course by name so Claude knows which one to use. For example:
  • “What study mode is my Data 100 course in?”
  • “Explain gradient descent the way my Data 100 lectures do.”
  • “Quiz me on this week’s probability material.”

What Claude can do with Polya

The connector can only read. It can’t change anything in Polya or Canvas. Claude can do the following: Claude is told to check a course’s study mode again before each new coursework question, to treat each part of a multi-part problem as its own question, and to cite the passages it used, like “Lecture 7, page 2”.
Claude writes its own answers. Polya tells it which study mode you chose, but it can’t force Claude to follow it. Treat the study mode as a guide you’re choosing to follow. If Claude goes past your mode, ask it to check the course’s study rules again.
Your Note to the tutor and your Study tab exams stay in Polya. Claude doesn’t see them.

Messages from Polya in Claude

When something goes wrong, Polya sends Claude a short message. Claude may pass it on in its own words.

Privacy

Claude sees the names of your courses, each course’s study mode, and passages from your materials when you ask about a course. Polya receives only what Claude sends to look something up, like which course and what to search for. Polya never receives your Claude chat history.
