Your documents are yours to take anywhere. You can share a PDF with your markup on the pages, which opens in any app, or a Lectra Document, which also reopens in Lectra with your handwriting still editable. You can also print, share selected pages, or export several documents at once.

Share a document

1

Open the document

In your library, tap the document to open it.
2

Tap Share

In the top bar, tap Share. You can also tap the document’s title, then tap Share….
3

Choose a format

In Share, choose PDF or Lectra Document. Each option shows the size of the file it makes.
4

Share it

Tap Share. When the file is ready, the iPadOS share sheet opens. Choose where to send it, such as Mail, Messages, AirDrop, or Save to Files.
The file is named after the document’s title.

Choose a format

Both formats are .pdf files. A Lectra Document is a regular PDF with a complete, editable copy of your document inside it. When you open it in Lectra, you get the editable version. To learn how, see Open a Lectra document.

What’s in a shared PDF

A PDF you share from Lectra keeps everything readable and searchable:
  • The original PDF’s text stays real text that you can select and copy.
  • Typed text boxes are real text too.
  • Your handwriting and scanned pages carry an invisible layer of recognized text, so other apps can search them. Words Lectra isn’t confident about are left out of this layer.
  • Images you added are included.
Lectra reads your handwriting after a save. If you share right after writing, the newest handwriting may not be searchable in that PDF yet. Your ink always appears on the page.
A shared document never includes lecture recordings, your version history, or anything from Apple Intelligence.

Share the original PDF

To share the file as it was when you imported it, without your markup, tap the document’s title, then tap Share Original PDF.

Share some of the pages

1

Open the pages panel

In the editor, tap Pages (or Page Overview on a narrower screen).
2

Select pages

Tap the checkmark (Select pages), then tap each page you want. The header shows how many you selected.
3

Export them

Tap Export. The button shows the count, such as Export 3.
You get a PDF of only those pages, with your markup, named with the page numbers, for example “Lab Report — Pages 4-6”.

Print

1

Open the print options

In the editor, tap the document’s title, then tap Print. You can also tap More actions > Print.
2

Print

Choose a printer and options in the iPadOS print panel, then tap Print.
Lectra prints the pages with your markup on them.

Export several documents at once

1

Start selecting

In the library, tap Select.
2

Choose documents

Tap the documents you want. If you select a folder, every document inside it is included.
3

Export them

Tap Export, then choose where to send the files.
Each document is exported as a PDF with your markup on its pages. A document you never marked up is exported as its original file.
The Export item in a document’s … menu, and Export in a folder’s options, share the files as you imported them, without your markup. To share your marked-up pages, use Share in the editor, or select the documents and tap Export as shown in the previous steps.

Send to Scope or to another device

To send a document to the Scope extension on your computer, or to Lectra on your Mac or another iPad, tap the document’s title, then tap Export to Scope. To learn more, see Send files between devices.

Export with Shortcuts

The Shortcuts app has an Export Lectra Document action. You can also ask Siri, “Export a document from Lectra”. The action makes a .lectra file, which you can open in Lectra on another iPad.

Export documents that were set aside

If you signed in with a different account on this iPad, documents from the earlier account may be set aside. To save them, go to Settings > Cloud & Backup and tap Export on the Set aside card. To learn more, see Backups.

Troubleshooting

Wait for the document to finish saving, then try again. If your iPad is almost out of space, free up some space first.
You probably used Export from the library’s … menu, which shares the original file. Open the document and use Share instead.
The document isn’t on this iPad yet. Open it once so it downloads, then export it.
Try exporting fewer pages at a time, or share the whole document and remove pages in another app.
