This quickstart gets each Scope app working with your course. Set up only the apps you need, in any order. Each one takes a few minutes.

Before you begin

  • Pick one Google account for Scope, ideally the one you use for school. The Scope extension and Polya sign in with Google. If you sign in to Lectra with the same Google account, the three apps share your files and courses. To learn more, see Your Scope account.
  • Check your devices. You need Chrome on a computer for the extension, and an iPad or iPhone with iPadOS 18 or iOS 18 or later for Lectra. For details, see System requirements.

Set up the apps

1

Add Scope to Chrome

On your computer, open the Scope listing on the Chrome Web Store in Chrome. Click Add to Chrome, and then click Add extension. A page that says Scope is ready opens.
2

Open Canvas once

On the Scope is ready page, click Open Canvas. Sign in to your school’s Canvas if it asks. Scope finds your courses while the page is open. Brightspace works too: open your school’s Brightspace site instead.
3

Pin Scope to your toolbar

In the Chrome toolbar, click the Extensions button, and then click the pin next to Scope. The Scope icon now stays in your toolbar.
4

Search your course

On any Canvas page, press ⌘ K on a Mac or Ctrl K on Windows and ChromeOS. Type something from your course, such as midterm or lecture 7. Press Enter to open the highlighted result.
5

Optional: sign in

To ask questions about your course or send PDFs to Lectra, sign in. Click the Scope icon in your toolbar, click Settings (the gear button), and then under Account, click Sign in. Then, to send PDFs to your iPad, turn on Send to Lectra in Settings.
To learn more, see Install the Scope extension and Search your courses.
